Harrisburg – Senator Bob Mensch (R-24) joined a community led partnership to host a job fair for the employees impacted by the planned end-of-year closing of Quad/Graphics in East Greenville. The Upper Perkiomen Valley (UPV) Community Job Fair was organized through a partnership with Cong. Ryan Costell0, Rep. Justin Simmons, Rep. Marcy Toepel, the UPV YMCA, PerkUp and the UPV Chamber of Commerce.
Over two hundred job seekers attended the job fair which was held at the Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA on Friday, December 11. Fifty job fair vendors provided a myriad of job information to the interested applicants. While the event was spurred by the news of the Quad/Graphic closure, the event was open to the public and all attendees were welcome.
“This event demanded a large amount of community collaboration in a very short amount of time,” said Senator Mensch. “We were able to put together a sizeable and well attended job fair in under three weeks. I hope that the attendees were able to connect with potential employers and that our efforts enabled them to find employment that will alleviate any pressure or burden caused by the sudden Quad/Graphic closure. It was an honor to offer my office’s support in this effort and witness the incredible impact of community support and partnership.”
