Senator Mensch

Senator Mensch welcomes members of The American Legion’s Keystone Boys State program to the State Capitol.  Pictured from left to right are:  Jacob DeHaven (Boyertown High School), Sean Basile (Quakertown Community High School), Senator Mensch, Kevin Anderson (Southern Lehigh High School) and Frank Gordon (Souderton High School).

Participants have the opportunity to gain leadership skills on a “learn by doing” basis, whereby the selected ‘citizens’ participate in a variety of activities and presentations such as: the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen through a week-long government simulation, which begins on the local level and builds up to the state level. Activities include government elections, legislative sessions, court proceedings, and law enforcement presentations.
