Mensch Applauds Aetna and the Bravo Foundation for $20,000 in Educational Scholarships to Local Schools

Families and Students Slated to Benefit From Funds Donated Via State's EITC Program

State Senator Bob Mensch (R-Bucks, Lehigh, Montgomery & Northampton) today joined officials from Aetna and the Bravo Foundation as the two organizations presented five local schools with a combined $20,000 in educational scholarships.

The recipients, Saint Philip Neri School in East Greenville, Saint Mary's School in Lansdale, Saint Ann's School in Emmaus, Spring Garden Children's School in Easton and the YMCA of Easton Pre-school in Easton, were awarded the funds via the state's Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

"I want to express my thanks to both Aetna and the Bravo Foundation for their efforts in supporting our local schools," Mensch said. "Both organizations have made a commitment to improving education within our communities, and they should each be applauded for their effort and dedication."

The $20,000 donation was made by Aetna through the Harrisburg-based Bravo Foundation, which helps connect businesses with local families, students and schools through the EITC program.

Presenting the scholarship funds on behalf of Aetna was Gregg Martino, Head of Regulatory Affairs. The Bravo Foundation was represented by President Dennis Walsh.

Saint Philip Neri, Saint Ann's and Saint Mary's each received $5,000 in scholarship money to support educational needs of their grade school students. The YMCA of Easton Pre-School and the Spring Garden Children's School each received $2,500 towards scholarships for their pre-kindergarten program.

Pennsylvania's EITC program helps provide $59 million in tax credits to businesses that contribute to entities like the Bravo Foundation that support educational improvement and scholarship programs as well as pre-kindergarten programs. Currently, more than 33,000 students benefit from the program each year.
