"Both organizations have made a commitment to improving education within our communities, and they should each be applauded for their effort and dedication." The $20,000 donation was made by Aetna through the Harrisburg-based Bravo Foundation, which helps connect businesses with local families, students and schools through the EITC program. Presenting the scholarship funds on behalf of Aetna was Gregg Martino, Head of Regulatory Affairs. The Bravo Foundation was represented by President Dennis Walsh. Saint Philip Neri, Saint Ann's and Saint Mary's each received $5,000 in scholarship money to support educational needs of their grade school students. The YMCA of Easton Pre-School and the Spring Garden Children's School each received $2,500 towards scholarships for their pre-kindergarten program. Pennsylvania's EITC program helps provide $59 million in tax credits to businesses that contribute to entities like the Bravo Foundation that support educational improvement and scholarship programs as well as pre-kindergarten programs. Currently, more than 33,000 students benefit from the program each year. |
