Senator Mensch Attends Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony for Local Eagle Scout Simon Keen

HARRISBURG – On Saturday, State Senator Bob Mensch (R-24) attended an Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony for a local Eagle Scout. Simon Keen, of Stowe, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 99 in Pottstown, PA.

Simon earned his Eagle Scout rank on October 29, 2019. Over the last four years of scouting, Simon was Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and worked his way to Senior Patrol Leader.

His project was done at the Althouse Arboretum located in Pottstown, PA. The Althouse Arboretum offers a children’s forest trail, native plant garden, raised garden beds, two forest classrooms, one mile+ of hiking trails, low ropes course, and more.

His project consisted of cleaning and maintaining a heavily wooded area, along with clearing out a section of the arboretum and refilling it with mulch so that individuals are able to walk on the path. He also cleaned and mounted birdhouses onto permanent structures.

Along with Simon’s troop and family, Senator Mensch was extremely proud of Simon’s accomplishments, and was honored to award him with a Senate citation at the ceremony.
