Senator Mensch’s Harrisburg Highlights

Dear Friends,

Below are some important Harrisburg updates that may be helpful to you.

This past week, neither the House nor the Senate were in Session in Harrisburg, but there was a plethora of activity across the Commonwealth as legislative business took place elsewhere.

In the House, the House State Government Committee wrapped up their hearings on the election process in the Commonwealth. They had a series of ten hearings over the course of two months where topics ranged from election guidance issued by the Department of State to county election day policies and operations. By contrast, the Senate has a Special Committee on Election Integrity and Reform, which is a Bipartisan Committee and not tied into a separate standing committee. This committee will continue their hearings this coming week.

Happening outside of Harrisburg, the Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee held two hearings in Southeastern Pennsylvania spread across two days on the topic of Pennsylvania’s s Economy – The Reliability of our Technology and Energy Infrastructure. The first day of the hearing was held at vXchnge Data Center in Philadelphia, while I was pleased to host the Committee on the second day at Veritas Medical Solutions in Harleysville, which is located in the 24th Senate District. You can read more about the hearings here.

I also circulated a memo seeking co-sponsors for legislation that I will be introducing to improve multidisciplinary investigative teams (MDIT) investigations by enhancing the information sharing processes in the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) and the Criminal History Record Information Act (CHRIA). You can find my press release on the memo here.
