Senator Mensch’s Harrisburg Highlights

Below are some important Harrisburg updates that may be helpful to you.

This week, all the action took place in the House, as the Senate was not in session but will return to Harrisburg this coming week. In addition to the legislative activity, the news that the Governor now sees it fit to lift all mitigation orders, other than the mask mandates, on Memorial Day was a pleasant surprise in the news cycle this week.

Like I mentioned, there were several bills passed through the House this week that are important to the Commonwealth’s recovery and economy.

  • House Bill 950 gives the General Assembly greater authority in regulatory repeals.
  • House Bill 72 creates an enhanced review process for major regulations that impose a substantial cost burden on the Commonwealth.
  • House Bill 288 creates the State Agency Regulatory Compliance Officer Act.
  • House Bill 723 brings Pennsylvania’s Workforce Development law in compliance with federal standards.
  • House Bill 406 restores work search requirements for Pennsylvanians receiving unemployment compensation.
  • House Resolution 91 creates a Task Force to review the Wolf administration’s failure to advertise a proposed constitutional amendment.
