Senator Mensch Announces DCED Funding for Towamencin Township

Harrisburg – Today, Senator Bob Mensch (R-24) attended the Towamencin Township’s Veterans Park Grant Celebration to announce the awarding of $25,000 from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED)’s Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program. These funds will help Towamencin develop a master plan for a Veterans Memorial Park and the project will conduct a thorough analysis of the site, prepare design alternatives, and help finalize a master plan.

It was also incorporate public opinion, include a study committee, a web public opinion survey, and a 60-day public review. Currently, a portion of the site contains a small cemetery with the graves of soldiers of the Revolutionary War and holds local historical significance, particularly with veterans. The intent of the master plan is to create a new design for a veterans’ memorial at the park and to provide for passive recreation and a learning opportunity for visitors.

“Not only will this project provide for recreation and educational opportunities, but it will honor the bravery and service of all our local heroes. That is just one of many reasons why I was happy to support this project,” Mensch said. “Congratulations again to Towamencin Township on being the recipient of this much-deserved funding.”
