Harrisburg –Senator Bob Mensch (R-24) and Representative Craig Staats (R-145) invite the media to attend a press conference on January 3, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Quakertown Borough’s Main Street Park. The press conference will highlight two state grants that were awarded to Quakertown Borough to rehabilitate Quakertown Action Park.
Quakertown Borough was awarded a $100,000 grant by the Commonwealth Finance Authority (CFA). Quakertown Borough applied for a grant through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation fund in order to assist with Phase 2 construction of an Action Sports/Skate park located within the Borough. The Quakertown Action Park is a local initiative to transform the 8.7-acre Main Street Park and the skate park into a state of the art recreation and training facility for the community. The Greenways, Trails and Recreation fund is administered by the CFA.
Quakertown Borough was also awarded a $250,000 grant by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnership Program Grant. This funding will allow for the renovation of the skate park, construction of a parking area, ADA access, landscaping, and other related site improvements.
Main Street Park in Quakertown is located next to the Quakertown Center which is located at 1020 South Main Street, Quakertown, PA 18951. Attendees should park in the Main Street Park parking lot that is located next to the basketball courts. For your convenience, a map outlining where the park is located has been attached.
