Mensch Holds Second Successful Seminar on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Managing Student Loan Debt

Red Hill –Senator Bob Mensch (R-24) recently held his second Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) Seminar at Boyertown Area Senior High on May 8, 2018.  The first PHEAA Seminar was held at Palisades High School on March 12, 2018.

The seminar provided parents and students an opportunity to learn more about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and how to manage student loan debt.  Mr. Michael Burke and Mr. William Lindsey, from PHEAA, provided the information and presentation on the topics.

“It’s important that we provide the tools and information parents and students need when making these important financial decisions,” said Mensch.  “I am very thankful to PHEAA for helping us with the seminars and I am appreciative to the school districts for recognizing how important these topics are.  The seminars were extremely helpful and informative and we will continue to share this information with constituents.”

In addition, Mr. Dylan “Skip” Hileman from Valley Forge Military College provided a brief overview of the Legislative Appointment Initiative.  The Pennsylvania Legislative Appointment Initiative (LAI) currently allows each of Pennsylvania’s 203 Representatives, and 50 Senators, to appoint a student from their district as the Commonwealth Scholar for guaranteed admission and a guaranteed partial scholarship to Valley Forge Military College – The Military College of Pennsylvania™. A student awarded the Legislative Appointment Initiative Scholarship may receive the award for up to two years.
