Residents of 24th Senate District Eligible for Federal Aid from Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Victims information and resources

Federal aid has been made available for affected individuals of Hurricane Irene in Bucks, Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton counties.

Federal assistance for homeowners and renters can come in the form of grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured or under-insured property losses, and other programs designed to help individuals and businesses recover.

Residents can apply for Individual Assistance, which consists of several federal programs designed to help citizens get back on their feet. For applicants who qualify, Individual Assistance might include funds to repair damages, replace major appliances and/or pay for temporary housing.

Citizens should document any damages with photos and detailed information on the losses you sustained. Citizens are free to begin the repair and recovery process. Make sure to keep copies of any receipts from repairs.

To apply for assistance, you can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or call FEMA’s toll-free number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired, between the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

FEMA is still doing damage assessments in regards to Tropical Storm Lee. At this time, residents of Bucks, Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton Counties have not been declared eligible for aid.
