Below are some important Harrisburg updates that may be helpful to you.
This week, the Pennsylvania Senate was in session on Wednesday, which was essentially a continuation of Swearing-In Day, January 5th. While this marks the official start of the 2021-2022 Legislative Session, jubilation can be reserved as we have a lot of work to do in the coming months and years to make sure that we, as legislators, do the best for all Pennsylvanians.
On Wednesday, the Senate met to accomplish two important orders of business. First, to conclude the makeup of the Senate, by swearing in Senator Jim Brewster as the winner of the election for the 45th District. The court case involving the election was resolved on Tuesday, and his challenger withdrew her petition allowing Senate Pro Tempore Jake Corman to call the Senate in the following day to swear him in. With all of this behind us, I wish to congratulate my friend Jim Brewster.
Also on Wednesday, Senator Corman announced the Majority Committee Chairs for the upcoming session. I look forward to working with my colleagues, some of whom are in new roles, in advancing positive legislation and working for the citizens of our Commonwealth. A press release regarding the Committee Chairs can be found here.
